The Admitting Clerk registers and admits patients in a timely, courteous and efficient manner. The Admitting Clerk is the first impression of the hospital & must have excellent customer service skills. Represents hospital as the focal point for all initial communication and enforcing company policies regarding admitting, discharging and transferring patients. The Admitting Clerk conducts interviews to obtain deductibles and co-insurance payments, if necessary, and secures all required signatures and copies of insurance cards and patient identification. The Admitting Clerk is also responsible for collecting co-pays from the patient at the time of service.
_Education:_
High School Diploma or GED
_Experience / Skills:_
Customer Service experience required
Minimum one year of office experience including contact with general public.
Use of computer to fulfill essential function of job required
Medical office experience preferred.
Ability to type 35 words per minute preferred.
Ability to multi task
Ability to work in a stressful environment
Collections experience desired

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
