Gerdau is currently seeking a Night Shift Maintenance Mechanic for its Lancaster, SC facility.

Position
Summary:
Perform a wide range and variety of maintenance and repair operations necessary to keep plant property, equipment, machinery, and tools in good operating condition; diagnose problems and work in many varied and diversified capacities required in general maintenance, overhaul, and repair of plant equipment, processes and facilities. Requires a general knowledge of electronics and electrical systems to include basic electrical repairs as needed or directed. Plan and schedule plant and equipment maintenance activities to minimize disruption to plant production and material handling activities with some supervision and direction provided by the Plant Superintendent.
Responsibilities:
Work involves a full range and wide variety of duties on diversified and complex work, including mechanical, electrical, electronic, hydraulic, and pneumatic troubleshooting and maintenance, using technical electronic diagnostic equipment computer equipment and a variety of precision instruments; requiring much care to effectively and efficiently diagnose, dismantle, repair, lubricate, reassemble, or otherwise work on general, as well as highly technical and specific maintenance in all capacities of electrician, pipefitter, burner, silver solder, welder, millwright, assembler, plumber, and installer.
Implement, and maintain the division's preventive maintenance program with input from superintendent and manufacturer's recommendations. Train and instruct employees on preventive maintenance activities and procedures. Inspect, adjust, clean, and/or lubricate equipment as normal part of preventive maintenance program.
Maintain and control plant inventory levels for maintenance parts and supplies. Develop vendor relationships; negotiate favorable pricing for parts, supplies and services, order parts and supplies in accordance with supervisor approval.
Train lesser-skilled maintenance positions on proper work methods and safety procedures when assisting with maintenance activities.
Maintain plant equipment and maintenance records to meet Gerdau's and OSHA's safety and quality compliance standards.
Diagnose causes of malfunctions by sight, sound, or actions of plant equipment, machinery or processes and determine corrective action to include seeking vendor assistance.
Tear down, replace, repair, install, and assemble equipment, parts, components, and accessories. Develop and fabricate accessory fixtures or guards for machines and equipment. Adjust machine mechanisms such as feed, speed, power input or output.
Direct and/or coordinate employees involved in maintenance repairs.

Qualifications include:
High School Diploma/GED required.
A minimum of 1-2 years in manufacturing or heavy industrial operations in a mechanic capacity performing troubleshooting and repair of electrical, electronic, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
Basic computer skills with Outlook, Word and Excel.
The Night Shift Maintenance Mechanic will initially work a split schedule between day and night shift, enabling this person to be trained and become familiar with our facility and overall operations. The ongoing schedule will likely be 5PM - 5AM. (Alternating 4day/5day weeks), with the ability to work Saturday's and overtime as needed.
Effective Time Management Skills
Accurately count, measure, and perform basic math operations.
Work both independently and as a part of team. Be self-disciplined, self-motivated.
Previous experience with crane maintenance is preferred.
